FAQ

What happened to "First Spoonful?"

We were called "First Spoonful" until November 2017. With the opening of our retail space we decided it was time to reflect on how much our business has evolved. We started First Spoonful as exclusively meals for babies or toddlers but we've grown so much since then and now we have meal plans for the whole family!  We felt it was time to find something that better fit with our message: Feed One, or a Family.

What days/time do you deliver?

We deliver Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays between 6pm and 10pm. You'll receive 2 or 3 days worth of meals in our reusable cooler bags. Our delivery bags are not meant to sit overnight. Please bring them in before going to bed and place the meals into your refrigerator.

Heating instructions will be included with your delivery and each meal or snack container will list the main ingredients of the dish. Please email us if you would like a complete ingredient list for any specific meals or if you have questions about your meal.

When can I expect my first delivery?

After your first order, your meal delivery will begin on the closest delivery day after processing (three days from when your place the order). For example, if you order on a Wednesday you will miss the Thursday delivery and, instead, begin with the Sunday delivery.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver to the greater Los Angeles area. See our map below for our current delivery area. If you don't see your area, check back in - we may be expanding our delivery zones soon!

What is your Delivery Fee?

We charge $10 per week for delivery within our delivery area. If you order the 5 day trial you will be charged $10 for one week of deliveries. If you choose our 20 or 28 day plans you will be charged $40 for four weeks of deliveries.

What do I do with my bags?

Please leave them outside on delivery days to be swapped for your next delicious meal. If we do not receive your bag returned we will charge you $25 for a lost bag.

What if my child or I have a food allergy?

No peanuts or tree nuts are used in our kitchen,  we use gluten/wheat-free Tamari instead of Soy Sauce and our fruit salads do not contain strawberries. We do cook with dairy, eggs, some shellfish, and other nuts.  We will always accommodate you and your child's allergies but we do have a small fee for more than three allergies or dietary restrictions. We have always used the highest quality ingredients and we make almost everything from scratch so this fee is simply to cover the labor in preparing special items and the specialty ingredients we need. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions about this!

What if I need to cancel or pause my delivery?

We require 3 days to process your order or make changes to your meal delivery. If you need to pause or cancel your deliveries please let us know three days in advance of the next delivery day.

If you are a Preschool Parent, all cancellations will be given a credit rather than a refund.

We understand things come up and you may need to cancel a lunch and we are happy to accommodate. If you need to cancel, you will be given a code with your credit to use for your next order.

I love my Citizen Sprout meal plans! How do I renew?

We love our returning customers! A few days before the end of your term we'll send you a renewal reminder email. All you have to do is simply place a new order. If you love Citizen Sprout and don't want to renew every week, sign up either our 20 day month (M-F) or 28 day month (all days).

I lost my heating instructions, help!

Our natural, compostable containers are microwave and oven safe too!

On your menu each dish will have a temperature suggestion - Serve Warm, Cold or Room Temp. Remove all sauces or dips in the small plastic containers before heating:

Microwave: Heat on high for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until warmed through.

Oven: Heat at 350 for 10 to 15 minutes or until warmed through.
